The BFG -The Plot

Our play is called the BFG.If you are reading this, you will hopefully be coming to the play. Our play starts in a girl called Sophie's bedroom but,she isn't the Sophie from the book. It's her birthday party and all her friends are there. Her mam and dad come in and they say that the entertainer has fallen ill and can't come.So they decide to act out the BFG,Sophie's favouite book! She has a dressing up rail and gives costumes to everyone. Then the real play starts!!!Sophie(from the book)is in her bed and can't sleep. She slips out to get a drink and is shouted at by Mrs.Clonkers and goes back to bed.She then gets out of bed and walks to the window and sees a giant! She screams and the giant comes in and grabs her then runs out. While they're running around the school the scene changes to inside the BFG'S cave. They come back in through the window. Then the BFG shows Shopie the other giants and they say where they want to go to eat humans.Sophie tells the BFG that she's an orphan. The BFG is a good giant and becomes upset.Sophie asks him what he eat and he shows her all of his snozzcumbers. She tastes one and thinks it's horrible Then the Bloodbottler and the Fleshlumpeater come in and ask the BFG who he's talking to.Sophie goes to hide in a snozzcumber. The Bloodbottler then bits the snozzcumber and Sophie ends up in his mouth but he spits her out ! Then the Bloodbottler and the Fleshlumpeater leave. The BFG gets Sophie some frobscottle to make her feel better.Sophie notices the bubbles are going the wrong way when she drinks it she did what the BFG would call a 'whizzpopper'.They then go to sleep. The BFG watches Sophie during the night and says that he is going to blow dreams.Sophie asks where he gets the dreams and he takes her to dream country. They catch some dreams and the BFG shows them to Sophie. They then hear the giants shouting and learn that the other giants are going to England to eat children,so the BFG and Sophie go to warn the Queen. After that it's the second act.Sophie (not from the book) is blowing the candles out on her cake and wishes to do the second act of the play.So they do, in the second act Sophie and the BFG are at Buckingham Palace and blow a dream into the Queen's bedroom. The Queen starts to hurtle around the bed and her maid comes in.The Queen tells her about her dream and how the giants are eating people. The maid opens the curtains and finds Sophie hiding behind it.Sophie tells the Queen about the BFG and calls him in.They have dinner and the Queen calls the Queen of Sweden to see if the BFG is telling the truth. After that the Queen calls in the Head of the Army and the Head of the Airforce to track down the giants and put them in a huge pit. After they do that, the BFG is awarded with a medal and Sophie and all of her orphan friends come to live with the Queen. The BFG says goodbye to Sophie and goes back to his cave.I really hope enjoy it as much as we enjoy performing it!

Oliver

One day back in October all the 5th and 6th class girls went down the road to Mercy College, which is an all-girls school to see the girls perform the play ‘ Oliver’. It was based on a book by Charles Dickens. We saw lots of past pupils from our school singing, dancing and performing in the play. In the middle of the play the girls from the school gave out lollypops to all of the people watching. The second half of the play was even better than the first, especially the grand finale. Other schools were also there including  St Paul’s school and Holy Child school. The play was brilliant and we had a great time. The show was about a young orphan boy, who travels to London and joins a pick-pocket gang. It was a thrilling story and everyone loved it. :-)

Orienteering

Last October our class and other sixth and fifth classes went orienteering in Santry Park. Before we went to Santry,we practised it in our school grounds for a few weeks by looking at pictures and following maps. Everybody in our class was partnered up.

In Santry we had to find stations and we were given a fob to insert into a small hole in the different stations we had to find. When everyone was finished, we had our lunch and we were given footballs, frisbees and rugby balls to play with after the course. Mark and Sean were the fastest in our class to complete the course and they took 23 minutes.
 It was a great day!

Frank Cottrell Boyce

On the 14th October 2011, our class took the bus into town. We then walked to Liberty Hall to meet the author Frank Cottrell Boyce. He read a bit of his latest book and then he took questions. Two girls from our class made a poster about his book Millions. They gave it to him and then he signed their books. Then on our way back to the school we sat down on a bench in front of the Liffey and ate our lunch. After that we went back to school. We all had a really good time, and that was our day out to town.

Fighting Words

We went to Fighting Words in the centre of Dublin.  First of all they took our names and photo.  We had to find out what the password was. It was Rumpell Still Skin. When we got inside they introduced us to all the staff. Then we sat down and we wrote a story. It was about a unicorn and a rhino, they had to defeat the evil dragon to get to king Matthew to complain about the mean leprechauns. After Fighting Words we took the Dublin bus back to our school . We all had a great time. :) :) :) by Mairtin Emmet and Jack
