Oliver

One day back in October all the 5th and 6th class girls went down the road to Mercy College, which is an all-girls school to see the girls perform the play ‘ Oliver’. It was based on a book by Charles Dickens. We saw lots of past pupils from our school singing, dancing and performing in the play. In the middle of the play the girls from the school gave out lollypops to all of the people watching. The second half of the play was even better than the first, especially the grand finale. Other schools were also there including  St Paul’s school and Holy Child school. The play was brilliant and we had a great time. The show was about a young orphan boy, who travels to London and joins a pick-pocket gang. It was a thrilling story and everyone loved it. :-)

Orienteering

Last October our class and other sixth and fifth classes went orienteering in Santry Park. Before we went to Santry,we practised it in our school grounds for a few weeks by looking at pictures and following maps. Everybody in our class was partnered up.

In Santry we had to find stations and we were given a fob to insert into a small hole in the different stations we had to find. When everyone was finished, we had our lunch and we were given footballs, frisbees and rugby balls to play with after the course. Mark and Sean were the fastest in our class to complete the course and they took 23 minutes.
 It was a great day!

Frank Cottrell Boyce

On the 14th October 2011, our class took the bus into town. We then walked to Liberty Hall to meet the author Frank Cottrell Boyce. He read a bit of his latest book and then he took questions. Two girls from our class made a poster about his book Millions. They gave it to him and then he signed their books. Then on our way back to the school we sat down on a bench in front of the Liffey and ate our lunch. After that we went back to school. We all had a really good time, and that was our day out to town.

Fighting Words

We went to Fighting Words in the centre of Dublin.  First of all they took our names and photo.  We had to find out what the password was. It was Rumpell Still Skin. When we got inside they introduced us to all the staff. Then we sat down and we wrote a story. It was about a unicorn and a rhino, they had to defeat the evil dragon to get to king Matthew to complain about the mean leprechauns. After Fighting Words we took the Dublin bus back to our school . We all had a great time. :) :) :) by Mairtin Emmet and Jack
